The Department of English is functioning effectively since 1999.It offers Part-II English for all undergraduate courses in the college. The department associates itself with all English related work of the college and also assists in general drafting work and communication activities of other departments. Apart from strengthening the foundation of spoken and written English in students, the Department also guides them in their co-curricular activities, especially English Literary competitions like Oratorical, Essay-writing and Verse-writing.

                                                                                                                                                                                                            The Department is chiefly interested in opening fresh avenues for personality development and command of language skills along with the acquisition of knowledge of the subject, English Literature. It offers need-based programmes, provided in an academic environment of quality higher education, and imbibes essential and universal values implicit in literature and life. The students, especially from the under-privileged stratum, are trained to acquire English communicative skills along with the knowledge about varied social and national values obtained from the study of literatures written in English around the globe.

             The students are encouraged in creative writing and are ably assisted to write articles for the same. The students are guided to bring out their latent talents through the medium of writing. Conducting free Communicative English Classes with hands -on training in the Communicative English Lab} for the students of our college is the regular activity of the Department. Further, two senior staff in the department are the recognized supervisors for guiding M.Phil. English (Part-time) of the Bharathiar University.

v  To conduct Bridge course for all First year UG students.
